Scope of Work:  The scope of this award is to demonstrate the use of smart inverters and high performance vehicle format lithium ion batteries to provide short term energy storage in the Kwigillingok high penetration wind system. The economics of lithium ion battery storage in wind diesel systems will also be evaluated. At the conclusion of the project, a report will be prepared that documents the ability of the battery to facilitate high wind penetrations and diesel-off system operation, assess the relative cost and value of the system, and the potential for commercial applications.
